GAP — Mike Means Business
// payoff from the reel

You commented GAP. Here is the map.

Claude for Small Business.
The map.

Anthropic just shipped Claude for Small Business. It is genuinely good. But 90 percent of real small businesses cannot use it on day one because of seven specific gaps Anthropic does not mention. Below: what it covers, where it stops, the diagnostic to know if the gap is real for you, and four steps to fix it.

What it actually covers

15 agentic workflows across finance, ops, sales, marketing, HR, and customer service. Named workflows include invoice chaser, month-end close, payroll planner, margin analyzer, lead triager, contract reviewer, and tax-season organizer. Multi-step. They actually do the task.

15 reusable skills underneath the workflows. Seven native connectors:

QuickBooks
HubSpot
PayPal
Canva
Docusign
Microsoft 365
Google Workspace
Claude itself

Zero extra cost on top of Claude Team or Enterprise. If your business already runs on these seven tools, this is free leverage. Install it.

The seven gaps it does not reach

gap 01

No phone or call layer.

Local service businesses run on phone calls. Claude cannot read them, log them, or follow up on them. If your day is "answer the phone, quote the job," none of that touches the AI yet. You still need a call-tracking layer (Aircall, Dialpad) feeding Claude separately.

gap 02

No WhatsApp or SMS surface.

Trades, hospitality, retail all live in WhatsApp threads. Engineers texting from site, customers asking for quotes, suppliers confirming orders. Claude does not see any of it.

gap 03

No Google Business Profile. No local SEO. No review velocity.

If your customers find you through Google Maps, Claude does not touch that funnel. The thing 90 percent of UK local SMBs actually need help with is not in the box.

gap 04

Shallow spreadsheet integration.

Connects to Google Sheets through Workspace. Does not live-read your custom pricing sheet, your bespoke job tracker, or the 12-year-old Excel file your business actually runs on.

gap 05

No tribal knowledge extraction.

Everything in the founder's head. Voice memos. Supplier shortlists scribbled on a notepad. Exception rules you have not written down. Claude does not interview you to get it out. Until you extract it manually, the AI cannot use it.

The bottleneck is not the model. The bottleneck is the knowledge that never left your head.
gap 06

No mobile staff query interface.

The screen your team opens in the van, on the workshop floor, mid-job. That is not in the product. Claude lives on a desktop. Your staff do not.

gap 07

UK-shaped holes.

Xero is the UK default. Not in the connector list. No UK VAT logic. No Companies House lookup. The training tour Anthropic launched? All US cities. Day-one support outside the US is thin.

The diagnostic

Tick three or more and the gap is real for you.

// is your business in the gap?
Your team WhatsApps you for answers more than five times a day
Your processes live in voice memos or a spreadsheet older than half your staff
A new product, service, or hire has been stuck for over a year because you cannot get out of operations
Your suppliers, exception rules, or trade secrets are documented nowhere
Your engineers, fitters, or front-line staff cannot answer customer questions without calling you
At least one critical workflow runs on a phone call, not a click
Your accountant is on Xero, not QuickBooks

What to do about it

1
Install Claude for Small Business anyway. If you are on Claude Team or Enterprise, it is free. Plug in the connectors that match your stack. Cover the workflows it does cover. You will get value from day one.
2
Pick your top gap from the seven above. Be honest. The one that wastes the most of your week. Almost always it is gap 05 (tribal knowledge) or gap 01 (phone calls).
3
Decide: build it or delegate it. Connector work is a weekend if you are technical. The tribal knowledge extraction is a different skillset entirely. Voice memo capture, structuring, RAG over your real data, mobile UI. That is the work most owners do not have time for.
4
Set a 4-week review. Track hours you got back. Track questions your team stopped asking you. If both numbers move, keep going. If not, the spec was wrong, not the tool.

Day 14 of AI Hacks.

Day 15 drops tomorrow. Same format. Different hack. Same rule: cut the noise, show what works.
