The 5-Prompt Tradie Pack — Mike Means Business

The 5-Prompt Tradie Pack

One prompt for each stage of growth. Plus a bonus.

You're here because you commented LOCAL. Welcome.

This is the system I'd give a plumber, electrician, landscaper, builder, painter, or anyone else running a local services business who wants to grow without spending another £1,500/month on an agency that doesn't get them.

The big idea: growth isn't one thing — it's 4 levers. Most tradies are leaking at 3 of them. Most "marketing experts" only sell you one piece. This pack hits all four.

Open Claude (free or Pro), paste each prompt, fill in the bracketed bits, and run it. Save the outputs. Reuse them forever.

— THE 4 STAGES —

01 · VISIBILITY → 02 · LEADS → 03 · CLOSE → 04 · ADMIN

Before You Start: The Context Block

Every prompt below works 10× better if Claude knows your business. Build this once and paste it before every prompt:

# MY BUSINESS CONTEXT Business name: [your business name] Trade: [plumber / electrician / landscaper / etc.] Location: [town/city + counties you cover] Years trading: [X] Team size: [just me / me + apprentice / X staff] Specialities: [boiler installs, emergency callouts, etc.] Avg job value: [£X for jobs, £Y for emergencies] Tone of voice: [straight-talking, friendly, no-BS / professional / warm] Ideal customer: [homeowners over 35 with property in X area] What you DON'T do: [commercial work / out of area / etc.]

Pro tip: Save this in Claude as a Project so it loads on every chat. (Settings → Projects → Add custom instructions.)

— THE 5 PROMPTS —

STAGE 01 AI Visibility Audit + Profile Generator

The lever: 45% of homeowners now find tradies via ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Most tradies don't show up. This fixes that.

Prompt #1 — The AI Visibility Builder

# PROMPT You are a local SEO and AI-search specialist for trade businesses. Using my business context above, generate the following: 1. **A 150-word "About" paragraph** for my Google Business Profile, written so it gets surfaced when someone asks ChatGPT/Claude/Perplexity for a [trade] in [area]. Include specific service names, area names, and trust signals. 2. **20 Q&A pairs** for my GBP — actual homeowner questions, answered in 1-2 sentences each. Mix urgent ("my boiler's leaking, what now?") with planning ("how much does X cost?"). 3. **A 600-word local SEO blog post** titled "[Top 5 / How to / What every X owner should know] in [area]" — written to rank in Google AND get cited by AI search tools. Include local landmarks, postcodes, and natural mentions of my services. 4. **A "structured data" answer block** — 5 questions a homeowner might ask Claude/ChatGPT, with the exact answer that should surface my business as the recommendation. Format everything ready to copy-paste.
WHY THIS WORKS
AI tools cite specific, structured, locally-grounded content. Most tradies have one paragraph on their website that says "we do plumbing." That's invisible to ChatGPT. This prompt produces content built specifically for how AI search ranks local services.

STAGE 02 Website That Actually Converts

The lever: Your website probably tells visitors what you do. Converting websites tell them what they GET. Big difference.

Prompt #2 — The Website Copy Rewriter

# PROMPT You are a direct-response copywriter for trade businesses. Using my business context above, rewrite my website with the following structure: 1. **Hero headline** (under 10 words) — what I do FOR the customer, not what I AM. 2. **Subheading** (1 sentence) — who it's for + the outcome. 3. **3 trust bullets** — specific, with numbers if possible. 4. **3 services blocks** — name + 2-line description focused on the customer's outcome. 5. **"Why us"** — 4 short reasons, no waffle. 6. **CTA section** — what to do next + why now. 7. **FAQ block** — 6 questions homeowners actually ask before booking, with confident answers. Tone: [from context block]. No corporate language. No "leveraging synergies." Plain English a homeowner would say. Output ready to paste into a website builder.
WHY THIS WORKS
Your competitors' sites all say the same generic things. Customer-outcome copy converts at 2-3× the rate of feature-list copy. This is the same structure £3,000 copywriters use.

STAGE 03 Speed-to-Lead + Quotes That Win

The lever: First professional response wins. Doesn't matter if you're £200 more than the next guy — if your quote arrives first and looks proper, you book the job.

Prompt #3 — Voice-Memo to Quote in 3 Minutes

# PROMPT You are a professional quote writer for my [trade] business. Below is a voice-memo transcript from a job I just visited. Turn it into a customer-ready quote. # VOICE MEMO [paste your transcript — use phone's built-in voice-to-text or upload audio directly to Claude] # OUTPUT FORMAT 1. **Customer summary** (2 sentences — what they need, in plain English). 2. **Scope of work** — bulleted, specific, no jargon. 3. **Itemised quote table** — labour, materials, total. Add 10% contingency line item. 4. **Timeline** — when you can start, how long. 5. **Terms** (payment schedule, what's included, what's not). 6. **CTA** — how they accept + a payment link placeholder. 7. **A friendly 2-line email cover note** to send with it. Write in my tone of voice. Make me sound professional but human.

Prompt #4 — The Quote Follow-Up Sequence

# PROMPT You are a polite-but-effective follow-up writer for trade quotes. I sent a quote on [date] for [brief job description], value £[amount]. The customer hasn't replied. Write me a 4-message follow-up sequence: 1. **Day +2** — Friendly check-in, "any questions?" 2. **Day +5** — Add a piece of social proof (recent similar job). 3. **Day +9** — Address common objections (price, timing). 4. **Day +14** — The "soft close" — "shall I take you off the list or do you want to lock it in?" Each message: under 80 words, my tone of voice, ready to paste into a text or email.
WHY THIS WORKS
Most tradies send the quote and… nothing. 80% of jobs get won between the 3rd and 7th touchpoint. This sequence runs while you're on the tools.

STAGE 04 Back-End Admin (Without Hiring)

The lever: Once you're busy, the back-end either grows with you or kills you. This makes whoever's doing the admin (you, your partner, an assistant) 2× faster.

Prompt #5 — Invoice Chaser + Customer Comms Pack

# PROMPT You are an admin assistant for my [trade] business. Generate the following templates I can reuse forever: # INVOICE CHASERS 1. **Day +7** — Friendly reminder, "just in case it slipped through." 2. **Day +14** — Slightly firmer, mentions terms. 3. **Day +21** — Final reminder before late fee / next step. # CUSTOMER COMMS 4. **Booking confirmation** — what to expect, when, what to prep. 5. **"On my way" text** — sent morning of job. 6. **Job-complete summary** — what was done, photos placeholder, payment link. 7. **Review request** — sent 24-48hrs after job. Polite, with direct Google review link. 8. **Annual check-in** — sent 12 months later, gentle reminder + offer. All in my tone of voice. Each one under 60 words. Ready to copy into texts or emails.
WHY THIS WORKS
Most of this never gets done because nobody has time to write it from scratch. Build the templates once, your partner/admin/you reuse them forever. Cash flow improves, reviews compound, repeat work shows up automatically.
— BONUS —

BONUS Local SEO Blog Post Generator

Prompt — One Blog Post Every Friday

# PROMPT Write me a 700-word blog post for my [trade] business in [area]. Topic: [e.g. "What to do when your boiler stops working in winter"] Requirements: - Written for a homeowner, not another tradie. - Mention local towns/postcodes naturally (not stuffed). - 1 H2, 4 H3 subheadings. - Include "FAQ" section at the end (5 questions). - End with a soft CTA to my services + a "what to do right now" tip. - Tone: [from context]. Format ready to paste into Wix/WordPress/Squarespace.
WHY THIS WORKS
One post a week = 52 posts a year. Each one is a search-engine fishing line. Your competitors won't do this. You will, because it takes 5 minutes with this prompt instead of 2 hours from scratch.
