The 11-Day Claude Order · The Full Playbook

MIKE MEANS BUSINESS
THE PLAYBOOK · 11-DAY ORDER · ISSUE 09
As promised. The full path. In sequence.

The right order to take Anthropic's 11 free courses.

If you commented ORDER on the carousel, this is it. The 11-day path I wish someone had handed me before I burned three months on Claude Code trying to figure out why nothing was sticking.

I'm going to explain WHY each course goes where it does, not just what to take. Order matters more than content. Get the sequence right and even the bad courses teach you something. Get it wrong and the best courses don't load.

The 3 rules that decide the order

Before the days, the rules. Memorize these. They're the entire system. The 11 days are just the rules applied:

THE THREE LAWS
01
Foundation before application. Learn how Claude thinks before you ask it to do things.
02
Fluency before features. Be conversational with the base product before adding agents, skills, MCP.
03
Principles before prompts. Understand the reasoning patterns. Don't collect prompt templates.

If you only remember the 3 rules and ignore the days entirely, you'll still beat 95% of creators. The days are just the rules in motion.

The 11-day path

Note: Course names below map to current Anthropic Academy + anthropic.com/learn modules. Some titles may differ slightly from official Anthropic naming. The category and topic ordering is what matters. Find each at anthropic.com/learn.
DAY 01~45 MIN · FOUNDATION
Anthropic Academy: Foundations
Teaches how Claude reasons, not how to use it. Without this, every "advanced" course later becomes a black box. This is the only course that's truly load-bearing.
DAY 02~30 MIN · FOUNDATION
Claude 101 · The Mental Model
How context windows, system prompts, and conversation state actually work. Most people skip this and wonder why Claude "forgets" things. It doesn't. You didn't structure the context.
DAY 03~40 MIN · PRINCIPLES
Prompt Engineering Fundamentals
Not prompt templates. The actual reasoning patterns: clarity, specificity, role-context-task structure. Once you internalize these, you stop hoarding other people's prompts forever.
DAY 04~35 MIN · PRINCIPLES
Advanced Prompting Patterns
Chain-of-thought, few-shot examples, structured output. These compound. Skip this and your Day 7+ outputs will be inconsistent without you knowing why.
DAY 05~30 MIN · PRACTICES
Real-World Use Cases
Pattern library. Now that you have principles, see them deployed across content, ops, research, coding. The point isn't to copy. The point is to recognize the patterns when you build your own.
DAY 06~40 MIN · APPLICATION
Claude in Action · Workflows
First taste of multi-step workflows. Still in the standard product, no Claude Code yet. You build prompts that chain. This is where your output quality starts compounding.
DAY 07~45 MIN · APPLICATION
Projects: Your First Knowledge Base
Projects > Chats for serious work. Custom instructions + knowledge files = persistent context. This is the underrated lever 90% of creators never pull. Set up one project, change everything.
DAY 08~50 MIN · ADVANCED
Skills: Composable Capabilities
Now Skills make sense, because you understand prompts (Day 3-4), workflows (Day 6), and projects (Day 7). A Skill is just a reusable prompt + instructions package. Without the foundation, Skills feel like magic. With it, they're just leverage.
DAY 09~45 MIN · ADVANCED
MCP: Connecting Your Stack
Connect Claude to Drive, Gmail, Notion, your tools. The reason creators try MCP first and quit: it requires fluency to be useful. Now you have fluency. Now MCP becomes obvious.
DAY 10~60 MIN · ADVANCED
Claude Code · The Right Way In
Yes, only now. Claude Code is the most powerful product in the lineup and the worst possible starting point. Coming in on Day 10, you understand context, prompts, projects, skills. Claude Code becomes a natural extension. Day 1 starters? Quit by Day 3.
DAY 11~30 MIN · OPERATOR
Building Your Own System
Not a course Anthropic offers. This is the synthesis day. Open a doc. Map your top 3 recurring workflows. Build a Skill, a Project, or a Claude Code config for each. Day 11 is when you become an operator instead of a student.

How to actually run this

IMPLEMENTATION RULES
  • One day at a time. Don't binge. The point isn't completion, it's compounding.
  • Take notes in a single doc. Same doc for all 11 days. Becomes your reference forever.
  • After each day, run one small experiment using what you learned. 15 minutes max.
  • Skip nothing in Days 1-4. Those are the foundation. Skip a foundation day and Days 7-10 don't compute.
  • If you're tempted to start at Day 10, you're confirming the entire problem this carousel was about.
  • Day 11 (build your own) is the only one you can't skip. Without synthesis, the other 10 fade.

What you'll be able to do in 21 days

Days 1–4: Read Claude's mental model. Write prompts that don't break mid-task. Stop hoarding prompt templates.

Days 5–7: Build workflows. Set up your first Project. Ship real outputs that don't need a freelancer to clean up.

Days 8–10: Compose Skills. Wire MCP into your stack. Run Claude Code without fighting it. The freelancer replacements start here.

Day 11 onward: You stop being a student. Other creators ask you which order they should take the courses in. You send them this carousel.

If this hit, do this:
Save it. Run it. Share it.
If even one person on your team is starting with Claude Code, send them this. You'll save them three weeks and $500 in courses they don't need.
