Stop Using Claude Like Google
A blank chat forgets you the second you close it. Spend 15 minutes once and Claude stops being a search box and starts running like an operator who knows your role, your voice, and your files. Here is the full 7-step build.
Start a Project, not a chat
Open Projects and create one workspace. Everything you set lives here permanently and carries across every chat inside it. A normal chat resets. A Project remembers.
Tell it who you are
In the Project, write down your role, what you are trying to get done, and how you like to communicate. Be plain. "I run a 4-person agency. I want short, direct answers I can act on, not essays."
Lock it into custom instructions
Move that context into the Project instructions field so it loads on every single chat without you pasting it again. Set it once. Done forever.
Feed it your writing
Drop 3 to 5 things you have actually written into Project Knowledge. Emails, posts, a sales page. Tell Claude to match that voice. Now its drafts sound like you, not like a press release.
Add behaviour rules
This is where you kill the habits that waste your time. Paste these straight into your instructions:
Upload your real files
The underrated one. Put your actual docs into Project Knowledge: your pricing, your SOPs, last quarter's numbers, your offers. Now Claude answers from your data instead of the internet's average. The difference is night and day.
Most people never do this. It is the single biggest jump in quality.
Make it check its own work
The payoff. Tell Claude to review every output against your rules before it shows you anything:
This cuts your editing time roughly in half.
Your move
Build this once and it runs in the background on everything you ask. Reply to this email with your trickiest workflow and I'll tell you which of the 7 steps fixes it. Day 19 drops tomorrow.
