most people use claude code wrong
i did too for months
i'd open it up, type a prompt, get an answer, and move on
then i found the skills feature
and everything changed
these 3 skills took my output from "pretty good" to "how did you build that so fast?"
heres the breakdown
1. GSD (Get Shit Done)
what it is:
a meta-prompting and context engineering system for claude code
basically it handles all the boring setup work automatically so you can focus on building
github: https://github.com/ProfSynapse/get-shit-done-cc
why you need it:
automatically structures your prompts for maximum output
manages context windows so you dont hit token limits
speeds up every single workflow in claude code
use cases:
building apps (it sets up the entire project structure)
debugging code (it knows what context to include)
refactoring (it handles the repetitive parts)
real example:
i used to spend 10 minutes setting up context for a new feature. now gsd does it in 30 seconds
install: npx get-shit-done-cc
2. Superpowers
what it is:
an agentic skills framework with pre-built development workflows
think of it as giving claude code a bunch of power-ups out of the box
github: https://github.com/obra/superpowers
why you need it:
64+ pre-built skills for common dev tasks
frameworks for autonomous agent workflows
pairs with gsd to become basically unstoppable
use cases:
building features end-to-end without manual steps
debugging complex issues with multi-step analysis
refactoring entire codebases systematically
real example:
needed to add auth to an app. superpowers walked through the entire flow - database schema, api routes, frontend integration - without me having to prompt each step
pair it with gsd and youre literally putting claude code on steroids
install: check the github readme for setup instructions
3. Create Skill (skill-creator)
what it is:
a skill that lets you build your own custom skills
meta af but game-changing
github: https://github.com/anthropics/skills (look for skill-creator in the catalog)
or install via: npx skills add https://github.com/anthropics/skills/tree/main/skill-creator
why you need it:
save your best prompts as reusable skills
never rewrite the same instructions twice
build your own personal skill library
use cases:
that perfect prompt you figured out at 2am? save it
your company's coding standards? turn them into a skill
your preferred testing framework setup? skill it
real example:
i have a skill for "write cold email in my style" - took 20 attempts to get the prompt right, now i just call the skill
you know those late night sessions where you finally crack the perfect prompt? now you can save it and use it forever
install: npx skills add (follow the prompts)
the result
install all 3 and your output goes 10x overnight
im not exaggerating
my workflow before:
2 hours to build a feature
lots of back and forth prompting
constantly hitting context limits
my workflow now:
20 minutes to build the same feature
gsd handles context automatically
superpowers handles the workflow
my custom skills handle my preferences
youre either part of the 1% who know this exists or the 99% who dont
